St Johns School Community Garden        Growing and Learning

The school is committed to teaching the children about their environment and how to take care of it. This has led  to the development of an School Grounds Improvement master plan and this May an organic sensory garden and vegetable garden was created by the children, staff and local community . Each class is responsible for a vegetable ‘plot’ with members of the community volunteering their support and advice to ensure this is a truly sustainable garden.

Future plans to develop and improve the school grounds include

  • Shade canopies to give protection for pupils
  • Clearing and planting the St Johns Hill boundary
  • Recycled plastic bottle green house
  • Improvements to the wildlife garden
  • Enhancing the native meadow grass bank

Thank you to all those who have helped so far.

If you would like to be involved or can help in any way please contact the school office.
