St John's Preschool

We have strong links with St John’s pre-school, which is located in the church building adjacent to the school and is the main feeder for our school. Children from many other settings also attend St John’s First School.

We take part in a variety of joint activities with the Pre-school including: Weekly planning with our Reception Class and shared outdoor provision, joint fund raising, using school equipment, joining celebration assemblies and performances, Reception going to Pre School performances, joint Book Week, Home visits and a coffee morning for new parents.

Ofsted noted that: ‘The school’s close links with the on-site playgroup are used very effectively to help children settle quickly into new routines when they first enter the Reception class.’
