St John’s is a Rights Respecting School, having achieved Level 2 in July 2011.

This nationwide award scheme promotes the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as the basis for enhancing teaching, learning, ethos, attitudes and behaviour. UNCRC Booklet

A Rights Respecting School not only teaches about children’s and human rights, but also models rights and respect in all its relationships between pupils, school staff and parents.

Our children have discussed the difference between wants and needs.  They have realised that Needs = Rights and moved on to consider that my rights are also your rights and in turn that alongside rights we have responsibilities.

A Rights Respecting School is a school where everyone learns to use the language of rights, respect and responsibility and builds a set of skills and values that nurture empathy and respect amongst all.

We have 2 Rights Respecting Schools Ambassadors – Grace from Year 4  and Jessica from Year 3.
