Charity
As a Rights Respecting School St John’s community supports charities which make positive changes to the lives of children now and in the future. We believe that all children should have access to their rights as stated in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Article 2
The Convention applies to everyone, whatever their race, religion, abilities; whatever they think or say, whatever type of family they come from.
'God began by making one man. From him came all the different people who live everywhere in the world. He decided exactly when and where they must live.' Acts Chapter 17, verse 26
Article 24
Children have the right to good quality health care, to clean water, nutritious food, and a clean environment, so that they will stay healthy. Rich countries should help poorer countries achieve this.
'Do for other people the same things you want them to do for you.' Matthew Chapter 7, verse 12
Article 28
All children and young people have a right to a primary education, which should be free. Wealthy countries should help poorer countries achieve this. Discipline in schools should respect children’s human dignity. Young people should be encouraged to reach the highest level of education they are capable of.
'In all the work you are doing, work the best you can.' Colossians Chapter 3, verse 23
