Reception children start their school life in the Elephant class. We have lots of fun and do exciting things with our teacher Mr Lees-Smith and teaching assistant Mrs Saltmarsh. We do lots of learning through play both in the classroom and outside. We are really lucky to have a covered outdoor area which means we can carry on learning in all weathers.
We enjoy learning through a variety of fun and interactive topics. We love being creative and having the opportunity to make everything exciting. We make the most of our amazing school grounds during all weathers and also venture further afield. Our classroom is very warm, caring and we are always busy. We always have a smile on our face. We enjoy playing instruments, painting and making things.
Children will bring a 'Letters and Sounds' book home every Friday with graphemes, phonemes, letter formation and tricky words to practise. The books are returned on Thursday for new home learning to be stuck in at school. The children are welcome to use the books to practise their letter formation.
The Elephants use the online learning journal 'Class Dojo'. Here, Mr Lees-Smith and Mrs Saltmarsh can share pictures of the Elephants' work with parents and set challenges to be completed at home.
