Reception children start their school life in the Elephant class. We have lots of fun and do exciting things with our teacher Mr Lees-Smith and teaching assistant Mrs Evans. We do lots of learning through play both in the classroom and outside. We are really lucky to have a covered outdoor area which means we can carry on learning in all weathers!
We enjoy learning through a variety of fun and interactive topics. We love being creative and having the opportunity to add a touch of sparkle to EVERYTHING! We make the most of our amazing school grounds during all weathers and also venture further afield. We love to visit the local woods and we also have a visit from a local farm in the spring term.
Our classroom is very warm and caring and we are always busy. We always have a smile on our face! We enjoy playing instruments, painting and making things. Look at the photo gallery to see some of the exciting learning we have been doing.
Children will bring a 'Letters and Sounds' book home every Friday with the graphemes, phonemes, letter formation and tricky words to practise. The books are returned on Thursday for new home learning to be stuck in at school.
The Elephants use the online learning journal 'Tapestry'. Here, Mr Lees-Smith and Mrs Evans can share pictures of the Elephants' work with parents and set challenges to be completed at home. So far this Autumn term, the Elephants have sent in photos of themselves holding healthy fruit and vegetables and exercising in their gardens or on exciting walks or bike rides.
